Upon completing his concept pop album, Language Burier, Alan Goffinski enlisted my help in creating an album release event with rich visual content accompanying the music. Guests would be encouraged to to listen to the album on headphones as they took in its visual counterparts.
Goffinski invited 12 different collage artists to create 12″x12″ works, each inspired by a song from the album.
I then came up with ways of altering the space and displaying the collages in a way that encouraged a slower exploration and discovery of the content.
Using concepts from the album, I designed and fabricated six organic shapes from chicken wire and papier–mâché. I also created smaller symbolic hanging elements, and installed these in the space.
