Phillip Berry | Orient Yourself

Phillip Berry is an experienced Indianapolis entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. He needed to transition his writings from LinkedIn articles to a online home where he could develop his brand as well as sell his books and related merchandise. In order for this site to encourage restful contemplation, I used muted colors and lots of natural imagery.

Key to the maintaining of this brand is the selection of cover photos for each blog post. I created this set of guidelines for the author to use going forward: Orient Yourself photos should…
• resemble your audience’s real lives.
• appeal to your audience’s sense of humanity and personal life journey.
• reflect diversity.
• allow your reader to insert themselves into the scene, to imagine themselves as the main subject.
• show individual process/focus on accomplishing a task, and/or wilderness (especially challenging terrains) as metaphor for the life journey.
• draw the readers into a more spiritual, less culturally-manufactured mental state. Photos of nature are good, but avoid highly romanticized (calendar) images.
